What The Green Oche is
A putting mat 237cm long: the regulation distance from oche to dartboard.
The black trim at the end is your throw line. Stand behind it, exactly as you would at any oche, and throw. Then step onto the mat and putt at a regulation 108mm hole, from markers set at 1ft through 6ft.
Both sports face the same way. Nothing gets moved between them.
The hole is a real one, not a printed circle. It sits on a riser under the mat, so nothing is cut into your floor, and it behaves the way a hole should: too hard and the ball runs over it, too soft and it never gets there.
Why it exists
Most homes with a dartboard have 2.37m of floor in front of it doing nothing.
Putting mats don't go where a dartboard needs you to stand. Darts mats don't do anything when you're not throwing. Most rooms have space for one, not both, so people pick a sport or shift the furniture every time they change their mind.
I play darts and golf, badly and often, and got tired of choosing. The Green Oche is what that floor should have been doing all along.
What I'm trying to do with it
Make the space you already have worth more than it was.
That means getting the details right rather than adding features: the distance measured properly, a surface that rolls true, a hole that rewards the right pace. It means a game you can play on it, The Green Oche® Challenge, so the mat gets used on a Tuesday night and not just when people come round.
And it means being straight about what this is. I'm one person, making 150 mats because that's what one person can make properly and stand behind. I answer the emails. I'll pack your box. If something's wrong with it, you'll be talking to the person who designed it.
The next run will be better for what the first 150 owners tell me.
